About The Artists

    Thriving Lotus Creations:    

    We are a husband and wife team of creators, manifest-generators, Kirk and Katie Howlett, based out of the beautiful town of Paonia, Colorado. Katie began learning and blowing glass in 2008, and began teaching Kirk later that same year. Over the years we have studied with several other artists, and taken many intensive classes to develop and refine our skills. Nearly the entirety of our glass career has been spent side by side, day and night, learning and growing; together, as artists, as craftspeople, as healers, learning to flourish together as humans.

    Glass is a fascinating medium, that, when "danced" with properly, the flow and movement, it's boundaries, it's temperament, and the artist themselves, all become one. It is an art that blends physical and spiritual alchemy, cultivating in the artist, and their art, a finesse, flow, a sensual-watery rhythm, yet also firmness, willpower,  and strength, teaching you to bend the glass to your will (and you to it's). Glass requires a very fine balance between many things; Art and Science, Ease and Tension, Gravity and Resistance, Control and Release, Precision and flow. Within this delicate dance with the glass, with each other, with our life, we've learned to maintain a beautiful flow with all we Create.... We learned to remain delicate, soft handed and of heart, loving, graceful, yet grew discerning, strong as iron, flame hardened, and furnace tempered.... To us, this is Art, this is Alchemy, this is Tantra....

    Tantra is about far more than just fun in the bedroom!!! It is about every breath we take, action we make, piece of art we create being done in the present, being "here and now," making your life itself an act of love-making, a constant cycle of happily letting go, while being open to receiving life's gifts! We apply this practice in every nuance of our life: Our Art, our Work, our Play, our Relationships, and our Love-Life!
